Plastic in Baikal water
International studies show that annually, a person consumes about 250 grams of microplastics through water and food
The fact that the lake is under threat is particularly concerning.

The problem of plastic pollution can only be solved through a unified approach, engaging the public, government, science and business efforts.
The value
of Lake Baikal is undisputable
We advocate for the immediate development of a comprehensive set of measures to optimise the use of plastic products in the central ecological zone of the Baikal Natural Area, the creation of a separate waste collection infrastructure in the Baikal regions, the development of a recycling system, and the promotion of environmental culture among the locals and tourists.

Business partnership on Baikal
Bills drafting
To stop the penetration of plastic into Lake Baikal, it is necessary to act simultaneously on several fronts.: reduce the turnover of single-use plastic products, introduce separate waste collection and recycling system, and also spread eco-culture among the population and tourists. These tasks are the responsibility of various companies and organizations. They joined the Baikal Plastic-Free Association and consolidated their efforts.
The Baikal Plastic-Free Association has supported a legislative initiative aimed at preventing plastic particles from entering Lake Baikal. Her main idea is to ban the sale of certain types of single-use plastic goods (bags, bags, dishes, cutlery, etc.) in the ecological zone of the Baikal Natural Territory.
Creation of eco-points network
The association's members advocate for a reduction in the turnover of single-use plastic products in the central ecological zone of the Baikal Natural Territory and in the Baikal regions. As a joint measure to clean up the shores and waters of Lake Baikal from plastic, it is proposed to provide the coastal territory of the lake with infrastructure for separate collection and recycling of plastic.
